One 4th of July maybe 8-10 years ago, a family member let me take his 2006 Cayman S for a spin in the country. I am still fond of the memory of that drive. He later sold it, and hasn’t really had a fun car since for a variety of reasons.

Today I was able to return the favor by letting him launch and corner in my GTI on those same roads. He is now seriously considering getting a GTI as his daily driver. It put a big smile on both of our faces.

It’s not the exact same experience, clearly, but we both appreciated the . . . What is the right expression? Symmetry? Poetic justice?

That’s pretty cool that you remembered and turned it around on him.

Hope he can get a fun car soon too.
